Gabriel García Márquez

by

This lesson plan consists of two parts. The first part calls for students to research the South American country of Colombia, birthplace of Gabriel García Márquez, winner of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The second part calls for students to read García Márquez's short story "La santa" and compare it to the movie Miracle in Rome which is based on another story by the same author.

"La santa" is available in English as "The Saint" in a collection entitled Strange Pilgrims, which is the English translation of García Márquez's Doce Cuentos Peregrinos.
